It doesn't take much time spent with a Vizsla to realize that they are truly a special breed. Originating from Hungary, they are well known for their speed, agility and stamina. They are used primarily for upland game hunting as a pointer, but they also make great retrievers and working ranch dogs. The greatest quality in a Vizsla however, is their unique and gentle bond that they have with people. Vizslas are known as "velcro dogs". Whether they have been in the field all day bird hunting or in the back yard chasing butterflies, the highlight of a Vizla's day is climbing up beside you on the couch and laying their head on you. Yes, all 60 lbs of them!
